The Field Guide to the Cyprus Dragonflies is targeted at young and aspiring nature explorers. In the first part of the Guide one can find valuable information about the fascinating world of the dragonflies, their place in the animal kingdom, their general characteristics, their life cycle and tips that serve to locate and identify them. In the second part each species that flies on Cyprus is illustrated with artworks of both the males and females. The characteristics that can help identify each species are marked on the art work. Furthermore, photographs are provided as well as information about the species behavior, its ecology and its phenology. The annexes include a Phenology Table, a Tick List for the observer and lists by scientific, common English and Greek names. The author, in addition to listing the scientific and common English names, suggests Greek names for the species to facilitate mainly the young observer. The Guide covers 32 species, contains 72 color artworks, 33 color photos and 6 comparative species tables.

It aims to stimulate the interest of the Cypriot public and the new generation in these beautiful and interesting insects, to cultivate environmental awareness and to highlight the need to protect the wetlands of Cyprus. Even though the main text of the Field Guide is in Greek, the scientific name is mentioned on the species pages. Both the common English name and the scientific name are mentioned in the annexes.
